Introduction to Contacts Model

The Contacts Model manages the storage and retrieval of data concerning contact details, as would be used by PIM applications, or related applications, such as messaging, that might need to retrieve such information.

The structure of the API is quite straightforward. A contact database contains a number of contact items. Each item in turn contains a number of fields, such as addresses or names. Each field has storage for a single object. This object may be text, binary, or a date/time value.
